Local headlines

• Corporate investment firm Valhalla Private Capital Inc. and Health City are teaming up to provide investor mentorship to health and life science companies.
• NAIT student Emer Burke’s Guardian Angel car seat was a provincial finalist in the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta’s capstone project of the year competition. The car seat uses monitors and alerts parents if temperatures get too hot or too cold.
• Edmonton-based Atlas Biotechnologies Inc. announced it got the green light for Atlas Growers Denmark A/S, allowing the company to grow medical cannabis in Denmark for the Danish Medicine Agency.
• University of Alberta neurologist Jack Jhamandas published research in Scientific Reports about the discovery of two short peptides that improved memory when injected into mice with Alzheimer’s disease.
• Edmontonian Sam Jenkins was named to the board of directors for Orion Nutraceuticals.
